How to set up a Drive-in Event with a FM Transmitter?
You want to play the sound on the car radio during a drive-in meeting, wedding, concert, stand-up comedy or church service.
This can be done very easily with a low-power FM transmitter, max 30-50 watts, because these transmitters can often be adjusted to a power between 0.3 and 30-50 watts, which is usually permitted.
The audio sound is transmitted through the transmitter and sent in real time to an FM frequency which can then be heard on the car radio. This works without delay. This is in contrast to streaming the sound (e.g. via a mobile phone). There is a delay and therefore image and sound can never be synchronized.
Why should you choose an FM transmitter from the EU with CE approval?
These FM transmitters meet the requirements set by the Telecom Agency. This means you meet the permit requirements issued by this authority. These permits are required when setting up a drive-in event:
*Permit from the municipality for the location.
*To use the FM transmitter, a permit must be requested from the Dutch Media Authority.
*This also requires an application for a license for the broadcast frequency from the Telecom Agency.
What kind of equipment do you need to set up a Drive-in set?
1 A CE approved low power FM transmitter
2 FM antenna and cable
3 RDS encoder (recommended)
3 FM audio processor (recommended)
Why an audio processor? The audio processor ensures an even audio level so that people in the car do not have to keep turning the sound up or down during loud or soft passages in the film.
It also ensures that you do not overdrive the transmitter (the sound can be severely distorted and this causes interference on neighboring frequencies).
Because an FM audio processor is actually indispensable, we recommend the Itel DPRO3 FM audio Processor,BW Broadcast DSPXmini Audessence ProCoder-2 other FM Audio Processors are also possible.
With an RDS encoder you can show the name of the event and other information on the screen of the radios. Also, many new car radios cannot tune to a signal if the correct RDS parameters are not sent. When the frequency is scanned, it will skip the signal!
What kind of antenna is needed, a broadband antenna? Or a tuned dipole?
If there is a fixed frequency you can use a Tuned Dipole
If there are different frequencies, it is best to use a broadband antenna.
And finally, cable with the correct connectors is needed: Ecoflex cable Ecoflex Connector

All sets are adjusted and set to frequency, and if necessary, provided with RDS text. The set is plug and play when it leaves the building.
