Relocation of Studio and Transmitter for Rick FM
Pro FM Broadcast helps local broadcaster Uithoorn to a new location.
Since the eighties, Uithoorn’s local broadcaster, Rick FM, has been housed in the Straatsburgflat. The studio was on the second floor, the broadcasting antenna was on top of the roof of the flat.
Due to the planned demolition of this building, it was forced to move. However, a new location was not so easy to find and this put some time pressure on the project.
Ultimately, they found shelter in the village hall of De Kwakel (municipality of Uithoorn). In November 2015, the relocation of the equipment started. Initially, studio 2 continued and the main studio 1 was dismantled at the old one and rebuilt at the new location.
In mid-December they could switch to the new studio and studio 2 was closed off and moved. Just before Christmas, despite heavy weather conditions, we managed to move the mast to the Briantflat, a few hundred meters away from the old transmission location.
The connection from the new studio to the new broadcasting location is via the Sigmacom Ether MPX (MPX over IP) codec and works excellently, thanks to the good quality of the fiber optic network.
The project was delivered ahead of the deadline of December 31, 2015.
